Invited Talk by the Librarian

Mr Sainul Abideen P, Librarian gave invited talk in the International Workshop on UNESCO's WINISIS/GENISIS for developing digital libraries and archives,organized by Mahatma Gandhi University in association with Marian College, Kuttikkanam

1st Open Access Day @ IIITM-K

14th October 2008 was celebrated world wide as the open access day to bring awareness and encourage publishing of research and literary works in open access over the web. IIITM-K celebrated the Open Access Day with a day long workshop . Different presentations were made in the workshop. In forenoon session had discussions "on open systems, open architecture and open content" and in afternoon section main topic was 'Trivandrum Science City' concept. The topics discussed include.

IIITM-K Librarian nominated to International Steering Committee of ISIS

Mr. Sainul Abideen, Librarian,IIITM-K representing Asia Pacific attended the 3rd World Congress of ISIS (ISIS3) held in Brazil. ISIS3 was held as part of the 8th Congress on Information for Health Sciences(CRICS) with more than 150 delegates from over 30 countries. The World Congress was attended by over 1200 delegates. ISIS3 witnessed the release of three free/open source products such as ABCD, integrated online automated management system for libraries and documentation centers; ISIS NBP -the new ISIS network-based platform and JISIS - WINISIS replacement software based on Berkeley DB.
At the meeting Sainul was nominated to the International Steering Committee of ISIS. This Steering committee accredited by UNESCO, will assist and collaborate with BIREME, UNESCO and the ISIS Software Developers, user community etc. in promotion, quality control, and monitoring of the ISIS family software products.


Sreekutty Receives Award

Miss. Sreekutty T S , Digital Library Trainee, of the institute secured 3rd rank in the BLISc Examination conducted by the University of Calicut. She was felicitated
by an award constituted by Farook College Old Students Association. Dr U Muhammed (Retd. Principal, Farook College) distributed the award in the presence of MP Abdussamad Samadani, and Prof KA Abdul Jaleel, in a function held at Farook College.
